Rudolf II

=== 1610-1613 Prague ===

  • 1610 October, the Drebbel family arrives at the court of Emperor Rudolph II in Prague. Drebbel demonstrates the Perpetuum Mobile, –probably- does chemical experiments and is involved in mining projects.

  • 1611 Rudolph II was stripped of all effective power by his younger brother Archduke Matthias, Drebbel was imprisoned for about a year.

  • 1613 February; Drebbel was released and travelled back from Prague to London. Has no income, no patron: In a letter to King James I-VI he proposes to develop diverse interesting apparatus and instruments. Offers to optimize the exploitation of a silver mine and asks for permission to organize a lottery.
